Throughout his career, Gus has worked as a professional musician in Scotland and England.
He trained as a classical pianist but is able to play in a wide range of different styles from jazz to popular.
He studied piano with Audrey Innes from St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh and David Parkhouse from london.
He worked for the Entertainment Agency in Edinburgh for many years performing in Hotels and other major events, also as a session musician with Billy Mackenzie from the band, The Associates, and was accompanist for the folk singer Mary Sandeman.
He is a regular accompanist for the Saunderson Singers, plays in a jazz quartet and works as a solo pianist and accompanist.
He also plays accordion, guitar, clarinet and organ.
